When Spring comes my granddaughter always gets excited that it’s time to make a Fairy Garden. We have to schedule a shopping trip for all our fairy decorations (this is of utmost importance to a six year old girl) and plan a time to construct our garden.
Supplies used:
- a round bowl or pot
- potting soil
- small rocks or stones if your pot doesn’t
have drainage holes
- 2 or 3 small plants
- moss
- flat marbles for decoration
- sea glass (optional)
- fairy decorations
- any other decorations of your choice
Most of these items were found at the dollar store.
Our pot did not have drainage holes so we placed the small rocks in the bottom of the pot.
Next we added our potting soil filling to the top of the pot.
Then we decided where our plants would go. It’s good to choose small plants that will not outgrow your pot too fast.
We decided to put a river through our garden made from the flat marbles. And of course there needs to be a bridge especially one made from flowers.
After filling in the other areas with moss we placed some pieces of sea glass and then decided on the placement of the fairy house, bench, sign and each fairy (again of utmost importance to a six year old girl). If you look closely you might even see a deer hiding behind a plant and a fairy reading a book.
Last step is to gently water the plants. We hope you enjoy making your fairy garden as much as we did.
