The Seagull by Ann Cleeves

This is book number 8 in Ann Cleeves Vera Stanhope series.

If you enjoy crime/mystery novels with lots of twists and turns, red herrings and misdirection the Vera Stanhope series is a good one to check out.

Vera is an intelligent and tenacious detective inspector. She and her team work hard investigating their cases, especially the cold case in The Seagull.

The Seagull was a glamorous club located in the seaside town of Whitley Bay on the northeast coast of England. Vera is given a tip that leads to the discovery of human bones, with evidence that links the crime back to the infamous club. In the course of solving the case, some of the evidence indicates Vera’s late father, Hector may have been involved. This causes difficulties for Vera and brings back memories of her father she would rather forget.

I really enjoy British mysteries, if that is up your alley, give Ann Cleeves a try. Her books are not cozy mysteries, more a crime/mystery. NF
