In this book Trevor Benson, who sustained injuries from a mortar blast in Afghanistan, returns
to a small town in N.C. where he spent time with his grandfather as a child. After his
grandfather’s unexpected death, Trevor goes there to care for his grandfather’s dilapidated
home and the beehives that he loved. He finds that there are some mysteries to uncover
concerning a young girl named Callie who lives nearby as well as some unanswered questions
surrounding his grandfather’s death. Add in a very pretty deputy sheriff by the name of Natalie
Masterson, and Trevor finds himself having strong feelings. While Natalie seems to
reciprocate his feelings, she seems distant and as though she has something to hide.
Nicholas Sparks does it again! As with his other books, he draws you in to the story and
characters’ lives with little effort. If you enjoy a book that is difficult to put down and you find
yourself looking forward to any free time to pick it back up again, then this is a book for you.
