The No-Cook Cookbook by Rebecca Woollard

Cooking and kids can be a beautiful but slightly worrying combo. Many children are eager to start cooking and want to learn how to make delicious snacks and meals for themselves and their families. Yet the kitchen contains many dangerous items that can cut, burn or wound a child without proper supervision. DK Publishing tries to help relieve some of those fears with their newest book, The No-Cook Cookbook. This book contains over 50 recipes of easy to assemble meals and snacks perfect for any beginning chef. The author includes a preface with basic kitchen rules, techniques, hygiene, tools and even gardening equipment. Each recipe includes a list of ingredients and tools and also gives a "cooking" time and the number of servings. One thing that I love about this book is that it uses little red triangles to warn readers when there are sharp tools or electric equipment needed in any of the recipes. Some stunning recipes included in this cookbook is the no-bake granola, picnic baguettes, zucchini and tuna salad, smoked fish pate, and raspberry ripple fridge cake. This cookbook is a great choice for families who like to cook together or for any child who wants to learn more about the subject. This book is available here at Walnut Grove Library.
