Recommended for ages 10 - 13 years, but I think it is great for all ages.
It is difficult to describe this book, but I think it is one of my favorites. I will remember Jack and Early for a long time. The story takes place near the end of world War II, and Jack’s Father is a naval officer. The book begins after Jack has lost his Mother. Jack has lived in Kansas his entire life, but after his Mother’s death his Father moves him to Maine to a boarding school near where he is stationed. Jack meets Early at the school, Morton Hill Academy. Early is a very different kind of person, brilliant and eccentric. Jack and Early’s journey is amazing and the story of Pi that Early tells is fascinating. If you are a fan of Joseph Campbell I think you will especially enjoy this hero's journey.
This book is available through RBDigital and at the Walnut Grove Public Library. NF
