Minecraft: The Island by Max Brooks

Cold, wet and without any air a person wakes up in the middle of the ocean. Shocked and confused the hero tries to get his bearing but is surprised by two discoveries. First, he has no memory of he who is and second, he has no idea of why the everything in the world is suddenly square. He may not know his name, but he does know that the sun should never be square. With nothing but his wits and a single tiny island, the hero must find a way to not just survive, but thrive in this strange, new world.

This wonderful juvenile novel is filled with not only interesting Minecraft knowledge but also life lessons. The author takes the time to include life guidelines in each chapter that the hero learns while living on the island. Even though the main protagonist is on a deserted island, he is not really alone as he has Moo the cow and his other animal friends to keep him company. This gives the book a feeling of hopefulness and makes it a fun, novel read. The audiobook is a wonderful option as Jack Black narrates the story extremely well. I would recommend this book to anyone but especially to Minecraft fans of any age. This book is available through PINES.
