From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg

When you were a child, did you ever imagine running away from home just for the adventure of it? Maybe you envisioned yourself packing some clothes and necessities for yourself and setting out to see the big, wide world. In From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg, this is exactly what young Claudia Kincaid does.

Claudia likes her family but she is entirely bored with the same routines and rhythms of her family's life. She wants to be different, to experience so many different things that she becomes an entirely different person. She quickly enlists the help of her younger brother Jamie and plans for the two of them to run away and live in nearby New York City for a week or so. But where would two kids stay in the bustling city? Why, the Metropolitan Museum of Art of course! Both she and her brother are enjoying their stay when they stumble upon a truly magnificent mystery. The newest addition is a statue of an angel that could possibly be made by Michelangelo. The brother and sister duo set out to ultimately answer that question in hopes of becoming the famous siblings who discovered the true origin of the Angel.

This juvenile book was a delight to read. It's fun premise and vibrant characters made it an entertaining story. It's an older book written in 1967 but still very relevant today. It's also very short which makes it perfect for younger readers. This book is available in the Azalea Regional Library System.
