Doggy Friends Easy Children's Book List

Release the hounds! Today's book list is all about dogs, our best friends. Here are five books for the dog lovers in your family.

Does your dog howl at firetruck sirens? Or does your dog loves to dance with you? Maybe your dog wears warm sweaters during the cold winter. Every dog is special and this lovely picture book celebrates each and every one of our furry friends and their unique talents.

When Dog reads a book all about a cat who wears blue boots, he decides that he too needs some fashionable footwear. But every shoe he tries doesn't seem to be quite right. Boots are not good for digging and rain boots are bad for swimming. Nothing seems to be perfect but the local shopkeeper might have the perfect solution to his shoe problem. This funny read has beautiful illustrations and a wonderful story that is sure to please any young listener or reader.

Lulu is one of the happiest dogs around. She loves to sniff and explore, using all of her exuberant energy to have fun. Soon, it's time for Lulu to start school to learn to be a working dog but the trainer and her handler soon discover she's very Lulu. She runs, chews, sniffs and plays and does the opposite of what she is supposed to do and this makes her very sad. But maybe she just needs to be sent on the right job to truly be happy. A delightful read, this book also includes some background information on the CIA training program for dogs.

It's time to go to work and Ruff is ready to start his busy day. But when his busyness leads to him accidentally hurting Hubble the mouse, he must apologize to his new friend and help make things right. But Ruff's day doesn't end there! Lottie the duckling gets left behind by her flock and it is up to Ruff and Hubble to help her find a new home. This cute book teaches the importance of friendship and perseverance.

Have you ever meet a Search and Rescue dog? Let me introduce you to the narrator of this lovely picture book. This Search and Rescue dog is looking for a little child who has wandered away from home. No worries! They are on the trail and won't stop until they find the lost child. This book is wonderful for reaching children about Search and Rescue dogs and what to do if they find themselves lost in the woods.
