Dearly by Margaret Atwood

Margaret Atwood's new collection of poems are a breathe of fresh air in the world of poetry. Introspective and challenging, Atwood has always been unafraid to bring to light personal subjects and shared issues that many of us have experienced. She tackles topics such as gender, sex, loss, environmental dangers, species and death. As Atwood is now in her 80s, death is the underlying theme of most of her poems in this book. She tackles that topic with ease and shows no fear that the end is near, simply accepting what is coming and looking back on how she chose to spend her life. Though death is prevalent, the author still includes amusing poems that are much lighter and deal with less challenging themes such as zombies, slugs and aliens. I would highly recommend this book to poetry fans or fans of Margaret Atwood's other works. It's a short, enjoyable read that your sure to enjoy.
