Art Sparks by Marion Abrams & Hilary Emerson Lay

I love doing crafts and creating things with my own two hands. It's not only fun but also gives me the satisfaction of completing something new. Sometimes it's hard to find interesting crafts that not only look good but are also easy to make. Art Sparks by Marion Abrams & Hilary Emerson Lay is a fantastic book with delightful crafts and projects made for kids (though teenagers and adults would enjoy making many of these crafts too). The authors divide the book into six sections based upon the crafting medium used; Painting, Drawing, Paper Craft, Felt & Fabric, Art & Nature, and Sculpture. Some of the the wonderful crafts included in this book are main street collage, painted animal rock, pencil-eraser pointillism and aluminium foil relief. Each craft includes in-depth, step-by-step instructions and are written clearly with an attention to detail. Each step includes a beautiful, color photo so the reader can visually see what each step should look like. The book also includes some templates to help the reader with a few of the projects that involve cutting shapes from felt and paper. This book is available to be placed on hold at the Walnut Grove Public Library.
