Trevelyan Castle is a beautiful old building in a rather poor community. The owner of said castle has a vineyard that nearly every member of the town works in. When that man disappears while boating in a storm, he leaves behind his business and castle to his dear daughter, Tressa Harlowe. Tressa is an intelligent young woman with a knack for vineyard work and deep desire to paint and create beautiful pieces of artwork. Sadly, her father has left many debts behind that his wife and daughter have no hope of paying on their own. But all is not lost! A hidden fortune lies hidden somewhere in the castle. Tressa's father distrusted banks and stored his entire fortune on his property, a known fact among the entire family. After the man is pronounced dead, relatives begin to appear hoping to steal the fortune for themselves. Young Tressa feels alone in her search until she gains the friendship of the new vineyard manager. Cool-headed and clever, Donegan Vance willingly helps his new boss find her father's treasure and the two begin to become closer than just friends. Yet Tressa cannot help but wonder who this man really is and what he will do when the fortune is found.
Historical-Christian Fiction with a whole lot of romance, A Rumored Fortune is a great book for any romance readers. I personally do not enjoy reading romance novels but the historical and Christian aspects helped make the material more appealing. The characters were well-developed and I did like the Gothic style. Overall, I would recommend it to those who truly love romance novels and enjoy seeing a healthy relationship blossom between two lovers.
