A Little Book of Self Care: Sleep by Petra Hawker

Everyone wants a good night's sleep and this book is a great aid. Both written and illustrated beautifully, this short, nonfiction book includes a plethora of tips and tricks to help the reader fall asleep and stay asleep. The book begins with a section about sleep, what it is and why it matters. The author then goes into strategies to improve the readers sleep by focusing on the environment, the mind, and the body. In the last section, the author does a short overview of some of the more common medical conditions and special circumstances that can cause disrupted sleep. There are quite a few conditions included and all the entries are concise and pared with gorgeous illustrations, easily keeping the reader's attention. One thing I loved about this book was the author's use of lists, flowcharts and other visuals that helped to explain her main points. These little details helped me retain what I was reading and keep me focused. I would recommend this book to readers who like short, introductory style books.
